The impact of a bankrupt of a hospital!
Twenty cancer patients Slotervaart hospital were without medication
A group of about twenty cancer patients had to temporarily stop the chemo- or hormone cure because of the bankruptcy of MC Slotervaart. This is confirmed by a spokesman for the curators of the hospital against the NOS.The drug interruption has probably not affected the treatment of the patients. "In medical terms, patients probably did not run any harm," says Marcel Soesan, former internist oncologist of MC Slotervaart. "These patients take medicines for life, and if they miss one or two weeks, that's probably not a bad thing, but it has caused unrest among patients."
Expensive medication
It concerns patients with leukemia and prostate cancer. The treatment of these twenty patients was one to two weeks. They were on a list of a total of sixty patients who received heavy cancer medication in tablet form. The wholesaler no longer wanted to deliver that expensive medication to the bankrupt hospital.
Also, because of the move to the OLVG in Amsterdam, it was not possible to see all patients on time. Twenty people therefore fell for some time between shore and ship, says the former internist oncologist. Meanwhile, the treatment of all those patients has resumed.
According to the OLVG, the hospital was not overloaded, but the patients had reported in the wrong place: at the hospital pharmacy. He could only deliver the medication after the patients had been seen by a specialist at the OLVG and registered with that hospital.
Letter
All other patients of the bankrupt Slotervaart Hospital in Amsterdam have also been informed about the continuation of their care in another healthcare institution. Yesterday the last group of patients received a letter. The trustees have sent 73,000 letters in recent weeks. That number does not match the number of patients. Some received more letters because they were undergoing treatment at different departments. Patients who are no longer under control will not receive a letter.
Appointments
In the letter MC Slotervaart informs patients about how they can make an appointment with the specialist department of the new hospital or the new healthcare institution. "Informing patients was an important and complex part of the closure of the hospital," writes MC Slotervaart in a press release. "With the sending of these last letters this is now complete."
The OLVG hospital in Amsterdam took over most of the care from the bankrupt MC Slotervaart. The distribution of the patient groups came about after consultation between the receivers, the health insurers and care institutions.
Currently there are still about 100 employees working at the Slotervaart hospital. They focus on transferring the patient files.

Frisian baker is running out of 50,000 deep fried doughnut balls due to water failure
At the end of the year it is a tradition in the Netherlands to make deep fried doughnut balls. For this you need water for preperation. But this time it happened, on the most not wanted moment, due to a power failure a great part of the province Friesland runs out of water!
The problems with the water supply in Friesland today have consequences for the bakers in the province. Bakery Venema Food in Sneek had just started baking deep fried doughnut balls and apple fritters for a supermarket chain in the north of the country, when there was suddenly no water left.
The forty employees could no longer continue, resulting in a backlog of 50,000 deep fried doughnut balls. "There is of course a lot of water needed for the ingredients," says owner Stephan Venema to Omrop Fryslân . "The boys came to me: 'Hey, there is no more water.'"
Now that there is pressure on the management, the baker is doing everything he can to get the deep fried doughnut balls in the shops. Venema: "They've always been fresh, but they're very fresh now, I think they're going to warm up the store."
The problems with the drinking water arose after a small power outage this morning in Southwest Friesland. Then things went wrong with the water supply. A large part of the afternoon, hundreds of thousands of people had no water. The problems were resolved around 6 PM.
